This collection of poetry has been written by a group of young people who have demonstrated great talent, along with remarkable resilience when things have not been easy in their lives.
Recording their thoughts in verse has been cathartic and liberating for the poets who have contributed to this anthology. It is hoped that, by sharing their experiences in this way, they will help other people to come through difficult times with a positive outlook.
'Their poetry is raw, and painful, and funny: it is observant, it is wise, it is hopeful... we need to listen to their voices.'
Jean Clark - Poet and Accredited Counsellor
Great Yarmouth & Waveney Mind provides a range of services to people in the community who live with the effects of mental ill health.
The ‘Young People in Mind’ project was established in Great Yarmouth in 2002, with a view to providing a platform for young people to achieve social interaction and realise their personal potential. One way in which this has been encouraged is through exploring individual creativity; Cutting the Puppet’s Strings is a direct result of this process.
